Read on for how Rujan changed industries, learned to stop shrinking herself in rooms with senior leaders, and found the conviction to negotiate for what she'd already earned.
Rujan Ahmed works in Business Operations in Healthcare.
We worked privately together concluding in July of 2026.
The most useful aspect of working with Cheri was how she consistently turned the questions back to me.
She asked the questions that helped me
✅ hear myself more clearly,
✅ catch the patterns I couldn't see on my own, and
✅ trust what I already knew but had been talking myself out of.
Practically, the reframes she offered around self-judgment, negotiation, and how I show up in rooms with senior leaders were immediately applicable.
I used them in real interviews, in a salary negotiation, and in how I handled difficult conversations with mentors.
But the deeper shift was learning to recognize when I was shrinking to make other people comfortable, and choosing differently.
Cheri's coaching was most useful across three areas.
The first was my job search.
I was making an industry transition into HealthTech after nearly a decade in Consumer Packaged Goods and startups, and struggling to articulate why my experience translated. Cheri helped me stop downplaying what I'd built and start presenting it with the conviction it deserved. That shift showed up directly in how I interviewed and ultimately led to an offer I negotiated confidently.
The second was self-judgment and the patterns underneath it.
I had a habit of making myself smaller in rooms with senior people, seeking external validation before trusting my own read on situations, and carrying feedback from old mentors that was never mine to hold onto. Cheri helped me name those patterns, trace where they came from, and replace them with something more grounded and honest.
The third was learning to advocate for myself:
in salary negotiations, in a fractional role where I'd been working without formal compensation, and in relationships where I'd historically prioritized other people's comfort over my own clarity.
These felt like separate challenges when I walked in. By the end I understood they were all the same thing: learning to trust myself enough to take up the space I'd already earned.
Working with Cheri was the best investment I made during one of the most uncertain and transformative periods of my life.
I found her through a networking event at Ellevate almost by accident, and from the very first session it was clear she was something different, i.e. not a coach who hands you frameworks and sends you on your way, but someone who genuinely holds space for the full picture of who you are and what you're capable of.
What set Cheri apart was her ability to move between the strategic and the deeply personal without losing the thread of either.
In one session we'd be working through how to negotiate a salary or structure a conversation with a founder about equity. In the next we'd be tracing why I smile when I'm uncomfortable, or why I'd been carrying a comment someone made about me years ago as if it were fact. She never treated those as separate conversations.
I came to her while between roles, navigating an industry transition, and genuinely unsure of what I was building toward.
I leave having started a role I love at a company whose mission moves me, with a clearer sense of my own leadership identity than I've had at any point in my career.
